The Versatile Camlock Hose Coupling System
A cam-and-groove coupling, also known as Camlock fitting, is a type of hose coupling originally developed for the US military. This type of coupling is popular because it offers a simple and reliable means to quickly connect and disconnect hoses without tools. Camlock couplings consist of a cam and a groove that interlock. This enables a fast and secure connection, which is especially important in applications requiring frequent assembly and disassembly. The designation "Camlock fitting" comes from the locking cam, which acts like a lever to facilitate locking and unlocking. These couplings are versatile and are used across various industries including industrial, agricultural, and firefighting sectors.
Manufactured according to the US military specification MIL-C-27487, this specification covered dimensions and machining tolerances, materials, torque requirements, part numbers, pressure ratings, finishes, inspection procedures, and packaging requirements. Compliance with this standard ensured interchangeability of parts from different manufacturers. In 1998, the specification A-A-59326 replaced MIL-C-27487. In Europe, the standard BS EN 14420-7 and the German DIN 2828 standard apply. Products made according to DIN 2828 are interchangeable with those manufactured to the original MIL-C-27487, but have differences in hose tail design, thread, part number, and other details. Our high-quality products comply with these standards to ensure the highest quality and interoperability.
