When do I need custom-made abrasive belts? In short: When the standard solutions do not fit the sanding machine. This is the case, for example, with modified or self-built machines. Klingspor always offers advice on which abrasive belt best suits the machine and product – whether standard or custom solution. To what extent can I customize abrasive belts? Every parameter relevant to the production of abrasive belts can be adapted to your machine specifications: type of abrasive belt, type of belt joint, grit size, length, and width. There are also options regarding the requested quantity, although there is a minimum order value. Who do I contact for customized abrasive belts? The product catalog offers a range of standard solutions. If these do not fit, we can create the suitable belt according to the standard for you using the configurator. 75 to 80 percent of orders are handled this way. However, there are also orders where the configurator reaches its limits. In such cases, customers are referred to Business Development. There, the right abrasive belt for the customer is created step by step. What services do we offer in this regard? For special customizations, we work together with the customer to determine the composition and dimensions the belt needs. The customer does not need expert knowledge for this. But: The more knowledge the customer brings about their machine and the desired belt, the faster the custom abrasive belt can be developed. Once the first version is ready, it is tested on the customer’s machines and possibly adjusted. If everything fits, Klingspor produces the delivery on the regular production machines. Are there limits to the custom manufacturing of abrasive belts? Since every abrasive belt is produced on machines also responsible for series production, there are upper and lower limits. For example, Klingspor regularly produces abrasive belts up to ten meters in length; the minimum width according to the standard is three millimeters. However, customer requests for lengths of 22.5 meters have also been fulfilled, as employees adapted the production facilities. The production possibilities are checked in advance for every individual order. How do I select the right abrasive belt? Our abrasive belts are the ideal solution for surface finishing and profile sanding on various materials such as wood, metal, plastic, paint, lacquer, and filler.
