Standard industrial floors (such as epoxy resin or polished concrete) often have a high gloss level. If the laser beams of the LiDAR scanner strike a reflective surface at a shallow angle, they are not scattered back to the sensor but reflected away. This creates "phantom obstacles" or "holes" in the digital map (SLAM mapping) for the robot. This leads to abrupt emergency stops or navigation errors, which drastically reduce OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) . Our plastic tiles, on the other hand, are matte.
