In addition to the Euro pallet, there are five other international pallet sizes recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) according to ISO Standard 6780:2003 (see above).

For example, North American 40 x 48 inch pallets, compared to Euro pallets, utilize 40-foot ISO containers between 7.5% and 12.1% more efficiently in floor area. 20 North American GMA pallets or 23-24 Euro pallets (1200 x 800 mm) depending on loading plan fit into a 40-foot container. Industrial pallets / UK standard pallets in 1200 x 1000 mm, on the other hand, are only slightly less efficient than GMA pallets in space utilization.

If North American pallets are placed in pallet racks designed for Euro pallets, for space reasons, for example, only 2 instead of the usual 3 pallet positions can be used.

Other common pallet sizes are, for example, 1140 × 1140 mm in Asia.

Custom construction for storage of wire mesh containers in racks, e.g., Euro wire mesh container, DB Europool wire mesh container according to DIN 15155/8 - UIC 435-3 with length x width x height: 1240 x 835 x 970 mm is also possible.

Special Pallets

Many companies use standardized Euro pallets to transport their products. The disadvantage is that compared to special pallets, these are often incorrectly dimensioned and thus lead to excessive costs in transport and storage.

• Bottom frame pallet / window frame pallet (these are particularly stable due to a reinforced bottom)
• Two-way pallet (a pallet that, unlike e.g. a Euro pallet, can only be entered with forks from two opposite sides)
