WATCO ArmourGrip – epoxy anti-slip system with iron silicate grit

Product information "WATCO ArmourGrip – epoxy anti-slip system with iron silicate grit"
WATCO ArmourGrip is intended for floors where ordinary anti-slip paints wear through quickly: loading areas with constant forklift traffic, ramps, turning areas and busy aisles. Instead of a paint with mixed-in grit, it builds a thick epoxy layer into which a very hard iron silicate aggregate is broadcast.
The base is a 2-pack epoxy with 100% solids that builds around 600 µm in one coat. It is then topped with black aggregate with a Mohs hardness of 7.5 (manufacturer data). The result is a black, mid-gloss finish that the manufacturer rates at 77.8 PTV dry and 72.6 PTV wet, and that wears far more slowly than conventional coatings. It can be applied from 5 °C, usually without primer, on concrete, wood and most metals.
Typical applications
- Loading bays, loading zones and ramps
- Vehicle turning areas and busy aisles
- Damp, oily or slippery surfaces indoors and outdoors

Because of its coarse texture, the manufacturer advises that ArmourGrip is less suited to clean-room areas.
The slip resistance rating is manufacturer data from a standardised test method. Whether the surface is sufficient for your specific work area depends on contamination, moisture and use, and should be assessed as part of your risk assessment.
