WATCO Asphalt & Beton-Erneuerer (sold in the UK as Asphalt & Concrete Resurfacer) seals weathered, open-textured asphalt and concrete and gives it a new, closed surface. For car parks, yards, paths and driveways it is an economical alternative to relaying, as long as the base is sound but the surface has turned grey, rough and porous.
The 1-pack, water-based acrylic product is simply poured out and spread with a squeegee or trowel; no primer is needed. It forms a flexible, waterproof, matt and slip-resistant film which, according to the manufacturer, has good UV and weathering resistance and accommodates slight movement in asphalt. It can be applied to damp but not wet surfaces, and heavily worn areas can receive several coats.
