WATCO Asphaltfarbe Schwerlast (sold in the UK as Heavy Duty Traffic Paint) is a solvent-based 2-pack epoxy coating for trafficked outdoor areas: car parks, driveways, access roads, loading zones and site roadways. It colours and protects grey asphalt or concrete in one go and is also suitable for highlighting hazard areas.
The solvent it contains bites into asphalt and concrete surfaces for good adhesion, usually without a primer; only on very absorbent floors is an epoxy primer recommended. The high pigment content gives good coverage. Note that this is a decorative protective finish – it does not fill or bind weak or damaged asphalt and is not suitable for mastic asphalt. Prolonged strong sunlight may cause some loss of gloss according to the manufacturer, without affecting strength.
