WATCO Dachschutz (sold in the UK as Roofite) is a thick roof coating made from rubber- and polymer-modified bitumen with fibre reinforcement. It seals leaking, cracked or porous roofs and can put off costly re-roofing. Because it bonds even to wet and running-wet surfaces, it is suited to emergency repairs in the rain – when a leak in a hall, warehouse or outbuilding has to be closed quickly.
The coating stays flexible: according to the manufacturer it does not soften in summer heat or turn brittle in winter. One generous coat bridges cracks and splits. Suitable substrates include concrete, corrugated sheet and other metal roofs, tiles, fibre boards, roofing felt and bitumen membranes. For old asbestos or fibre cement roofs, seek specialist advice first. Larger defects are closed with embedded repair membrane, and deep holes in concrete roofs with a mix of Dachschutz and sand additive.

For roofs that are walked on for maintenance and need a slip-resistant surface, WATCO Flachdachschutz is the better choice.
