WATCO Schutzschicht (sold in the UK as Protecta-Coat) is a clear two-pack polyaspartic sealer for concrete floors and previously coated surfaces. It forms a glossy, hard-wearing top coat over coloured or decorative floor coatings and protects them from abrasion, scratches, chemicals and weathering – so markings, colour zones and decorative floors stay presentable longer and need renewing less often.
According to the manufacturer the sealer can be applied at temperatures from -10 °C to +30 °C, including in cold stores or during winter works. It is UV and weather resistant and can therefore also serve as a UV-stable top coat over epoxy systems outdoors. The finish is easy to maintain, stays flexible under slight substrate movement and is cured after about 6 hours at 20 °C. Existing coatings must be sound and are evenly abraded with a diamond grinder beforehand.
